Marcia Schvartz (Argentina, 1955)
Her work combines expressionist realism with grotesque and parody, addresses themes such as marginality and loneliness in Argentinean society, as well as landscapes and travel experiences. She began painting as a child and studied at Escuela de Bellas Artes Manuel Belgrano. During the military dictatorship she went into exile in Barcelona. She was featured at important exhibitions and biennials, such as the Venice Biennale in 2011. She was awarded Gran Premio de Honor-Banco Central in 2015 and Gran Premio de Pintura-Salón Nacional in 2013, among others.
