Noemí Gerstein (Argentina, 1908-1996)


She studied at Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes and took courses in Paris with Ossip Zadkine. She was the first woman to be appointed as a full member at Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes in 1975. She was featured in exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Venice Biennale. She worked with varied materials – mainly iron and brass – and became an emblematical constructivism, geometry and informalism artist.
