Sarah Grilo (Argentina, 1919-Spain, 2007)


She studied painting in Buenos Aires with Vicente Puig and founded Grupo de Artistas Modernos in 1952. She lived in France and England and moved to New York in 1962, after winning a Guggenheim Fellowship, where she fused abstraction with elements of abstract expressionism. She resided in Madrid from 1985 until her death. She took part, among others, in the Venice Biennale in 1956.
