Juan Batlle Planas (Spain, 1911-Argentina, 1966)

Painter, influenced by surrealism, used psychic automatism to create images. Influenced by esotericism and biological energy, he created Radiografías Paranoicas [Paranoid X-rays] in 1936. His work evolved towards abstraction, leaving the human figure behind to focus on still life and geometry. He held shows at Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes and won the Premio Palanza by Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes, Argentina in 1960.
